Day 2 Road Tripp

Up early and off to a good start. We left Corydon IN about 7:11AM. It was a beautiful day, sunny with a few nicely floating clouds. Temperature high today at any point was about 80 degrees.

The truck is doing beautifully (knock on wood) cruising along taking the hills in stride.

We crossed Indiana and into Illinois keeping on highway 64. We passed the Archway to the West in St Louis MO. and switched to I70 across Missouri to Kansas City where we got on 29 north. 29 runs along the side of the Missouri river and is the area where the Army Corp flooded the area to avoid more serious floods downstream in 2011. Very flat land with a unique bluff running along the sides of the river about a mile or so away. And yes, the corn looks awful around here.

Since there was a time change we decide to go on an extra hour all the way to Onawa, Iowa to the On-Ur-Wa RV park. It is very nice here under the cottonwood trees.

The weather is cool enough we don't need the AC.

Thanks to P&J we have enjoyed cracker snacks and the story of Lincolns assassination (or at least the first 2 disc so far).

Not a lot of pictures as we have mostly driven and if you look out my side window you see a great big rear view mirror. But once I get to DuPont, I will try to upload a few shots.

Despite all the driving, traffic has been light and the ride enjoyable. We should have done this much sooner!

We are enjoying a glass of wine and a hot dog from Dairy Queen for supper and then its early to bed. 500 more miles tomorrow and then finally some real sight seeing at Mt Rushmore.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

  1. Y'all are trucking right along! I'd probably have a lot of road shots by now. Wine and hot dogs, huh? Hm. I'm not the world's best cook, but I'm sure we can do better than that out here!
