Campers and Squirrels

Our new camper adventures continued with a trial run this weekend- in the driveway. We decide it was too close to Christmas to go to the river so we slept in the camper in the driveway. I'm happy to report all systems are go. We did however, learn that winter camping still might not be our thing. This morning when we woke up the pillow was frozen to the side of the camper. The heat inside causes everything to sweat, but then it was so cold outside that the pillow, which touched the front wall, was frozen to the wall. But we were warm and cozy sleeping so we'll figure something out.

After a few cups of coffe, we came in to see Jynx sitting on her new perch in front of the window. We have taken to feeding the squirrels in the morning along with the birds and the deer. The squirrels however are quite fearless. The food; old crackers and cookies with some corn and seed thrown in, are placed on the bench right outside the kitchen window. It only takes a few moments for the birds and squirrels to arrive. This morning, despite the frost, they were there quickly and in mass. Woodpeckers, cardinals, snow birds, and at least 6 squirrels. Jynx's tail goes wild twitching as each squirrel stares at her through the window while chomping down on a cookie.

Nothing as cool as a west coast nature reserve but our backyard is a fun place to be. We have seen deer, racoons, white deer too by the way, hawks, eagles, (yes, we saw a couple of bald eagles circling the other day), birds of many kinds, squirrels, a few good parties and one great wedding.

Christmas is just a week away now and we're going to the Blands tonight for dinner. Pat and Joyce will be here next week (not sure which day?). All the gifts are wrapped and under the tree (even though I keep shopping- who can pass up these sales?).
Merry Christmas everyone!! God bless you each and every one.

  1. I hope the condensation was because the camper was very cold before you started the heater. Had it been kept at a more normal temperature it might not have had the condensation. The other thing that will cause condensation is an improperly vented heater.
